I'm taking part in the Brisbane Marathon Festival 2016 and hoping to raise much needed funds for Haemophilia Foundation Queensland. This amazing charity supports people with bleeding disorders such as Haemophilia A, Haemophilia B, von Willebrands disease and other bleeding disorders. Whilst these disorders are rare, they have a huge impact on the lives of those affected, as well as their families and friends. I have watched many children and their families go through the rollercoaster of invasive day to day treatments, disappointing limitations on activities, unexpected complications and unwanted long-term consequences as a result of their bleeding disorder. Many feel isolated in a world where most people haven't heard of their disorder to know how to support them or what it means. These patients and their families work together to overcome enormous hurdles, and achieve enormous goals!

I want to raise money to help Haemophilia Foundation Queensland continue to support them - to subside their medical expenses, to provide education and positive experiences, to create awareness, and to fund research for a better future with less invasive treatments and better outcomes, and perhaps even a cure!

This August, I’m going to be sweating it out and doing my best to complete a gruelling course, but in doing so I will be making my run count! I am honoured to be a part of this amazing race and helping a great cause, and I’d really appreciate your support in this endeavour.
